1904

  • Five organizational meetings held in May, during which the name and first Badge design were selected.
     

  • Official Founding: May 30. Badges worn for the first time, colors of red, buff and green chosen, first Fraternity songs presented and sung. A Pledge Pin design adopted.

1905

  • First chapter house leased.
     

  • Red and buff roses chosen as Fraternity flowers.
     

  • Certificate of Incorporation recorded in New York on June 3. Charter granted to Beta Chapter-University of Wisconsin.
     

  • The present Badge design adopted.

1906

  • Skiouros first appeared as mascot with the installation of Gamma Chapter-Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut.

1907

  • First National Convention. The Ritual, Constitution and Armorial Bearings adopted.

1909

  • Fraternity spanned the continent with the installation of Iota Chapter-University of Washington.
     

  • First issue of the Alpha Gamma Delta Quarterly published.
     

  • Fraternity admitted to membership in the National Panhellenic Conference (then National Panhellenic Congress).

1912

  • First Songbook published.
     

  • Iota Chapter-University of Washington purchased the first chapter-owned house.

1913

  • Present Pledge Pin design authorized and official jeweler selected.

1915

  • Alumnae advisors to collegiate chapters authorized.
     

  • First officer handbook published.
     

  • First Convention Feast of Roses held.

1917

  • Lifetime subscription to the Quarterly authorized.

1919

  • Honors of Epsilon Pi established.
     

  • Fraternity became international; chartered Tau Chapter-University of Toronto, beginning a tradition of Fraternity leadership in Canada.
     

  • Rose Bowl award for scholarship presented to the Fraternity by the Founders.
     

  • Alumnae work recognized to provide for alumnae chapters and alumnae clubs.
     

  • International Altruistic Project adopted—summer camp for underprivileged children.

1920

  • First summer camp opened at Jackson, Michigan.

1921

  • Official banner adopted.

1923

  • Executive Council structure created, the first of its kind among Panhellenic groups.

1927

  • Central Office established in New York City, one of the first such offices among Panhellenic groups.

1936

  • International Reunion Day established as third Saturday in April, replacing Founders Day, which had traditionally been celebrated on May 30.

1947

  • Counselor Training Program for rehabilitation of the handicapped, the first of its kind, adopted as International Altruistic Project.  

1957

  • Design for Alpha Gamma Delta flag approved. 

1959

  • Founders Memorial Fund established for scholarship grants.
     

  • Central Office name changed to International Headquarters.
     

  • Distinguished Citizen Awards presented for the first time.

1964

  • Alpha Gamma Delta Founders Memorial Foundation received federal approval as a tax-exempt public foundation. Scholarship and altruism funds were incorporated into the Foundation.
     

  • Alpha Gamma Delta Rehabilitation Project established and children with learning disabilities selected as first recipient.

     

  • Purchase of first Fraternity-owned International Headquarters authorized by Convention.

1965

  • International Headquarters moved to Indianapolis, Indiana.

1967

  • Chapter Consultant program began.

1979

  • Construction completed on new International Headquarters building in Indianapolis.
     

  • Juvenile Diabetes Foundation approved as a Fraternity philanthropic project.

1982

  • The Leadership Conference (TLC) first held.

1983

  • Junior Circle program and Rose Sister program established as part of the alumnae organization.
     

  • Rosevines career resource system organized.

1990

  • Founders Memorial Foundation name changed to Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.

1991

  • Grand Council name changed to International Council.
     

  • Diabetes mellitus approved as a Fraternity philanthropic project.

1993

  • Eight-week new member program implemented in all chapters.
    Alpha Gam Always alumnae program organized.

1996

  • See Through the Haze...To a Clearer Purpose, the Fraternity’s hazing awareness program, developed and presented to collegiate and alumnae chapters.

1997

  • See Through the Haze...To a Clearer Purpose offered as an educational resource to other NPC organizations as well as to colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada.

1999

  • Strive for Pi Scholarship Program established for collegiate chapters and members.

2003

  • The Fraternity develops new vision statement "Inspire the Woman. Impact the World." in conjunction with the Strategic Plan.

2005

  • Completion of AlcoholEdu, a science-based course about the effects of alcohol on the body and mind, is made a requirement for Initiation.
